Using dry compressed air will save all mechanical pneumatic products
African Executive’s (AE) Inline Water Trap removes water, oil, dirt and rust from your compressed air, protecting your pneumatic equipment from corrosion, seals damage and lubrication blow-out. The clean dry compressed air increases the pneumatic machinery efficiency and improves overall productivity.

This water trap does not use any filters, desiccants or electricity and therefore require very little maintenance.

The water is drained continuously via an Air Water Extractor (AWE) which also acts as a silencer. An automatic mechanical ZERO AIR loss condensate drain may also be used. Any solids captured must be drained manually on a weekly basis.
The unit is made of 4.5mm mild steel. The unit is then galvanised to prevent rust. Your fitting requirements must be specified, being screw-in, Victaulic rings or flanges.
The AE Water Trap works with any type of compressor. The normal working pressure is between 3 and 10 bar. The maximum pressure is 16 bar.
Benefit of using dry pneumatic air in underground mines
Using dry compressed air will save all mechanical pneumatic products
- The Top- and Bottom-deck motors on all the underground loaders will last longer. The lubrication will not be blown out by water in the compressed air
- All controls on air system have a longer productive life because dry compressed air flow through it. Water damage to seals on the control unit makes the unit ineffective.
- Pneumatic drilling machines will have a longer productive life because there is no loss of lubricant.
- Radial door cylinders have a longer life span because the absence of water in compressed air will not cause the seals to leak within cylinders and make it ineffective over a short time.
- Waste and Reef tip cylinders and controls have a longer life span because of water not accumulating in cylinder and controls.
- Water accumulates at lowest point in the drilled holes and causes the explosives to be less affective. It leads to a large production loss in face advance. When the holes in face have been charged up with cold dry air the explosives are much more affective and a cleaner cut is quite noticeable.
Requirements of product for mine industry
- Pressure test – SABS – Passed (over 12 Bar or 1200 kPa)
• Efficiency test – SABS – Passed (96.85% efficient in all areas tested)
• Risk assessment done to comply with mine health and safety act – Passed all SA mining sectors as required
